Our Stories:

Tales From The Jail And Other Uniform Stories

If you were to ask someone in the general population what a corrections officer does, they would probably base their answer on what they’ve seen on the news, television shows, or in the movies. The reality is that news media and the entertainment industry poorly represent the everyday job of corrections officers and first responders in general. The reality of who we are and what we do is an everyday mixture of tension-filled moments consisting of boredom, hilarity, heartbreak, shock, fear, and all the other emotions that a person can go through. In between the covers of this book are stories from the people who wore the uniform and did the “job” as well as the effect that being in the uniform can have on the person wearing it.

You will read true firsthand accounts told by the men and women working in jails, penitentiaries, police officers, and the military. These stories tell how they maintain their professionalism and calm demeanors when faced with life-and-death situations. You will laugh at the silly antics and unbelievable situations they have witnessed and possibly cry over the tragedies they have faced. Moreover, you will read about the good people who want to make a difference in the world as well as those who have no right to wear the uniform. This is not a book about the crimes that landed people in jail, it’s about the people who choose to work with those that society has placed in their care.
