Testimonies of a Young Woman

In this book, I am telling my testimony through poetry. As you read my words, you will feel every moment of frustration, sadness, rejection, and eventually joy of moving forward from my past. In this book, I also give a voice to other women’s unspoken tales as well. I believe we should not allow our past to keep us hostage but allow God to use it to bring hope and healing to others.

Angry Granny - Where's My Beaches

Angry Granny is back again, and in this adventure, her family takes her along on a vacation to the Emerald Beaches in Florida. Six months before, Granny had to move in with them because she couldn’t live alone any longer, but Granny, her son and daughter-in-law, and grandkids soon learned that the transition -and Granny’s hilarious behavior- would be a little challenging.

In this second book, Granny’s sister, Fanny, invited them down to visit her on the beach. It was an exciting trip in a number of ways including Granny’s moving walkway mishap, her sitting on a “monster” sea turtle, and, of course, her continual inability to think before she speaks. Granny is known for enthusiastically calling almost anyone an a**hole. But, when her grandson thinks she might not live with them any longer, he realizes just how much he might miss her farting and snoring, and even her potty mouth.

This is the second book in the laugh-out-loud Angry Granny series. School age readers and their parents won’t want to miss joining the family on this comical beach get-a-way that has a powerful and deeper message about accepting change and embracing the love of family embedded within.

Gaijin Cowgirl:

A Val Benson Thriller

(The Val Benson Thriller Series Book 1)

Working Tokyo nightclubs is easy money for beautiful and troubled American Val Benson – until a wealthy client with a dark past – reluctantly gives up a map to a stash of Japanese war loot and tempts his favourite girl into a dangerous treasure hunt.
But the Congressman’s daughter is not the only one interested in the map: Yakuza, bent cops, human traffickers, rogue CIA agents and her father are hot on her trail, snapping at her high heels.
So begins the dark, epic journey of a new anti-hero of Asian Noir, a protagonist both ambiguous and courageous, and utterly unreliable. From comfort women and tomb-raiding in Japanese-occupied Burma to the murderous echoes of the Vietnam War, long forgotten crimes come roaring back to life, as Val leaves a trail of destruction and chaos in her wake.
Together with her best friend, the equally unreliable nightclub hostess Suki, a British kickboxer and a washed up Australian treasure hunter, Val travels through Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok to the Thai-Burmese borderlands for a dramatic showdown with her pursuers. Finding the treasure before someone less deserving does is her only hope for survival, and perhaps redemption.

All The Ways You Can Face The Sky

Farlo Ben Truman is an American author who writes about human connection. After certain high-stress events in his life, he was prescribed anti-anxiety medications—benzos—as are millions of people around the world. Nobody told him it was intended for short-term use only. His central nervous system crashed and he ended up in rehab for detoxification.
All the Ways You Can Face the Sky is a story inspired by the people he met who, like him, were battling with themselves, not just chemical addiction. In Farlo Ben Truman’s own words, “One of the first things they tell you in rehab is that 90 percent of the addicts—especially young people—are destined to fail and relapse.”
Similar to an actor developing a persona, Truman is a character writer, as opposed to a plot writer. His characters are regular people who are thrown into extraordinary circumstances due to their addictions. The story creates itself around the complex threads that tie everything together.
All the Ways You Can Face the Sky is about forgiveness of yourself and other people. Truman, like the characters in his novel and millions of people around the world, suffers from loss and grief—whether it’s the breakdown of a marriage, the passing of a loved one, or simply feeling alone. He was disheartened by the high percentage of relapse, especially among young adults, because they either don’t have the proper support system, or know how to utilize it. Everyone can be scared about starting over again and therefore fall back into the darkness they already know. This complex reality is just beginning to be addressed in the United States.
Farlo Ben Truman reminds us that we’re all just looking for home.

Rats, Mice, and Other Things You Can't Take to the Bank

From an award-winning syndicated columnist comes a collection of essays-sometimes nourishing, sometimes passionate, sometimes humorous, and always relatable.
Read this book if you are feeling sad.  Read this book if you need a good chuckle.  Read this book so that you never ever feel like you’re alone.
In one of the essays the author summarizes her embarrassment for not being supportive of her husband.  She writes “When you’re sad, you get the kind [of tears] that roll down your cheek flowing freely.  They drip down your collar and snot up your nose.  No.  These were different.  These were tears of shame and embarrassment…These were tears that didn’t want to puddle or roll. These were tears that didn’t want to come out at all but couldn’t help themselves as they reluctantly dripped sideways into the hairline instead of following gravity down the face. These were my tears.”
These essays shine light into the soul and leave it wide open for all to see.  This gifted storyteller is a keen observer of her own human nature and is not shy about sharing it.
Part memoir, part essay collection, Rats, Mice, and Other Things You Can’t Take to the Bank is written with both wit and charm.  It will take you on a ride from finding a mouse in the house to the mortgage crisis.  It’s so engaging that you may just might find yourself wondering how your own personal stories ended up in it!
