Emerging From the Dark: Wish I Knew About This

★★★★★"A refreshingly candid look into the experiences of stroke survivors, Emerging From the Dark by Terence Ang is both informative and inspiring. Arranged as a series of essays, the book uses original illustrations as a companion to the text in order to examine myriad topics faced by stroke survivors: physical and mental health, depression, loneliness, as well as the determination to get better and start a new life. Powerful and unabashed in its comprehensive overview of what people might face, this is a book for anyone who is struggling after a stroke and needs some inspiration, as well as for caregivers and family members who wish to better understand one of the most life-changing health conditions." About Terence Ang:

In August 2020, Terence faced one of the most challenging moments of his life: he experienced a stroke. At that time, he was heading the digital marketing and e-commerce department at the largest electronics and home appliances company in Singapore. His harrowing experience inspired a deeper purpose. As a stroke survivor, Terence felt a strong desire to make a positive impact on others through the narrative of his own journey, offering hope and perspective as individuals navigate the challenges of everyday life.

His debut book, "A Cry in the Dark," delves into his personal experience, painting a poignant picture of the struggles and triumphs he encountered in the aftermath of his stroke. The resonance of his story led to an invitation to speak at the prestigious World Stroke Congress 2022, held in Singapore. There, he imparted invaluable insights on the significant roles health professionals and caregivers played in his recovery.

In his second literary venture, Terence brings together a collection of heartfelt narratives. This book features the individual journeys of various stroke survivors, each sharing their unique story, shedding light on their struggles, triumphs, and the resilience of the human spirit."
